02-13-2010 Board Announces Dr. Curtis' Continued Leadership
Dear Morristown-Beard School Community,
The reason for the old saying that Boards should hover at 30,000 feet isn’t to tell us not to get involved in on-the-ground operations, as you might think. Rather, the image is meant to reinforce that a Board’s main job is to look as far ahead as possible, up and over the horizon to allow our extraordinary staff and faculty to execute their responsibilities in educating, coaching and mentoring our children. We need to see what will be coming upon us in five or ten years, or even longer, if we have the vision to see so far ahead, and to position the School for its greatest success when that time will be upon us. We imagine the kind of education that children and families will want and need in years to come, and we try to provide the means for our School to have those things. We know that for our continued success we will need exemplary facilities, ample resources and, perhaps most importantly, the best personnel. They are our greatest and best investment.
