Sixth Grader Composes Thrilling Extra Credit Project
Sixth Grader Composes Thrilling Extra Credit Project
As extra credit projects go, this one definitely hit the right note!
Sixth grader Max Sherer composed an original song – “The Test Day Night” - to earn extra credit for Mrs. Booth’s class. On November 4th, Max and his classmates performed the song to a very enthusiastic audience at the Middle School Morning Meeting.
Set to the tune of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” here are the lyrics to Max’s original composition:
It’s close to midnight and some evil grade is lurking in the dark
Under the nightlight, you see a date that almost stops your heart
You try to scream, but the research takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as your notes look you right between the eyes
You’re paralyzed!
(CHORUS)
‘Cause this is Test Day, the Test Day Night
And no one’s gonna save you from the test about to strike
You know it’s Test Day, the Test Day Night
You’re fighting for your life instead of studying, studying tonight
You hear the book slam and realize there’s nowhere left to run
You feel the cold hand and wonder just how well you might have done
You close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination
But all the while you hear the teacher creeping up behind
You’re out of time!
CHORUS
Right answers calling, but will you make the grade?
There’s no escaping the flaws of your answers this time
(They’re open wide) this is the end of your life
They’re out to get you, there’s questions closing in on every side
They will distress you, unless you had studied last night
Now is the time for you and the book to cuddle close together, yeah
All through the night, you’ll study until the dawn can been seen
I’ll make you see
CHORUS 2X
