A Cappella Group has MBS Bobbin' Along
The final Upper School Morning Meeting before Winter Break was especially tuneful and entertaining thanks to a performance by The Bobs, a Grammy-nominated a cappella group.
The Bobs – whose real names are actually Matthew, Amy, Richard and Dan – began with a rousing version of “Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens,” followed by an amusing Hanukkah song based on the Beatles’ classic, “Eight Days A Week” and a beat box version of the Coasters’ “Searchin’.” They even threw in an ode to cell phones.
Later in the day, The Bobs conducted workshops with students in Mr. Van Hoven’s Upper School chorus classes. They discussed the nearly 30-year history of the band and demonstrated more of their offbeat approach to blending musical styles. A Madrigal version of the Doors’ “Light My Fire,” anyone? They also listened to MBS students sing, and offered advice on performing with plenty of personality.
