Students Discover the Highs & Lows of Wall Street
On December 16th, members of the Stock Club and Mr. Richard’s Economics class traveled from the depths of the Federal Reserve Gold Vault to the heights of the securities lending floor of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. 58 floors above lower Manhattan to gain a better understanding of the U.S. economy and financial markets.
Mr. Ricky Kamil, Stock Club Advisor, organized the trip. Mr. Alden Hess, a former Wall Street insider and Stock Club Advisor also accompanied the group.

The day began with a trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where students toured the Gold Vault that rests 80 feet below street level on the solid bedrock of Manhattan Island. They also viewed the 1933 Double Eagle – a famed gold coin that was recently sold at auction for nearly $7.6 million.

Thanks to Mrs. Christine Kamil, Managing Director at J.P Morgan, the students from the MBS Stock Club and Economics class were able to meet various members of the securities lending team, part of the J.P. Morgan Worldwide Securities Services division, at 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza in lower Manhattan. The students met Mr. Mike Zebrowski (Client Sales), Mr. Bobby Taub (Head of U.S. Fixed Income Trading), and Mr. Jamie Proctor (Global Head of American Depository Receipt Trading).

“It was an excellent experience,” said senior Bob O’Brien '10 because “we got to see real life examples of what we studied in class.”

Following questions and answers, students toured the trading floor and enjoyed the view from high above Manhattan.
