Despite Weather, A Great Turnout at Blood Drive
Not even wintry weather and a delayed opening could put a damper on Morristown-Beard School’s 23rd annual blood drive, which was one of the most successful drives in school history. The drive was held on February 24th and was conducted by New Jersey Blood Services.
This winter, the Morristown-Beard blood drive collected 142 units thanks to the hard work and generosity of faculty and staff, alumni, students, parents and area residents. “We had a record 180 donors sign up, but the weather and the delayed opening definitely affected the early attendance,” said faculty coordinator Laurie Hartman. “Still, the kids pushed on and made it a great success!”
The blood drive was led by student coordinators Henry Kean ’10, Annie Taggart ’10, and Allie Silvershein ’11.
This year’s student captains for the event were: Anna Balliet ’11, Maddie Boyle ’11, Lauren Capo ’11, Kelly Carrion ’10, Dan DePoalo ’10, Lucy Donnally ’11, Kelsey Egan '10, Ruth Frankel ’11, Katy Hentenaar ’11, Caroline Hollander ’11, Sarona Isaac ’10, Kelly Johnson ’10, Matt Kleinberg ’11, Charlotte McAuley ’10, Maddie Press ’10, Maddy Schumacher ’11, Kamy Shafaie ’10, Ali Shulman ’11, Will Vandeveer ’11, and Cristal Vivanco ’11.
